About me

About me

Welcome to my blog! My name is Remko Deenik and this is the place where I blog about some of the things I’m working on.

The reason for this blog is mainly so that I don’t forget the stuff I’m working on. Too many times I ended up thinking I know I’ve done that before somewhere, somehow… You probably know what I mean. So I try to keep track off things, but obviously I have too little time to blog on everything I’d want. Hopefully you might find some of this helpful as well.

Now for those interested, a little bit about me. I work at Pure Storage in the Netherlands. Here, I’m involved in a New Stack technology. New Stack means container technology (Kubernetes, OpenShift), automation (Ansible, Python, PHP), virtualisation (VMware, OpenStack) and probably some other stuff I’ve missed.

My background is that I’ve been working in IT since 1999 in many different roles, both technical and managerial. I’ve started out as a field technician repairing computers and printers and moved along as technical consultant, project manager, pre sales consultant and IT architect, not necessarily in that order though. I’ve always focussed on datacenter IT working on technologies like virtualisation, storage, networking, high availability and security.

In 2012 I somehow ended up in a management position. And by the and of 2013 I was a business owner and responsible for a mid-size Managed Services company. However all good things come to an end and in 2018 my fellow shareholders and I sold the company.

After some careful thinking, I decided to join Pure Storage. I had been working with them for over the 4 years as a partner. I was amazed by the talent, the culture and the positive impact a company could have on customer.

So that is it. Hope you enjoy my posts and feel free to leave your thoughts in a note or comment.
